Captain Andrew T. Schafter
Captain Andrew T. Schafter graduated in May 2011 from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. That same month, he commissioned through Air Force ROTC Detachment 420 at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In July, Captain Schafter PCS'd to Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma for 8 months of military training. Later, in January of 2012, he PCS'd to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas to attend the Intelligence Officer Schoolhouse. In September of that same year, he graduated and was assigned to the 17th Reconnaissance Squadron at Creech Air Force Base located in Indian Springs, Nevada. As a Lieutenant, Captain Schafter spent the next three years providing mission support and planning to numerous remotely piloted aircraft combat air patrols, as well as targeting and providing weaponeering solutions for strikes against key al Quaeda and Taliban network nodes, to include multiple high value targets. In April of 2015, Captain Schafter was reassigned to Air Force ROTC Detachment 855 in Provo, Utah. Currently, he teaches leadership and management classes for third-year ROTC cadets, the AFROTC Honor Guard classes, and performs all duties related to the Education Flight Commander position.
